GMI – GUITAR AND MUSIC INSTITUTE

In December 2013 I launched an ambitious project to create an online learning institute offering guitar lessons, guitar news and much besides. Educating not only guitarists but musicians in general as well as sound engineers. Courses in entrepreneurship and online marketing for musicians are offered as well as a range of guitar lessons from beginner to advanced.

The site has grown steadily and goes from strength to strength with hundreds of people signed up and learning from the many videos, courses and associated electronic literature. My hope and aim is to make GMI one of the biggest learning portals in the world. There are many free lessons and courses on the site, so if you are looking to learn at home then please, like so many others join up and enjoy the many resources available. Here is a link to the site How To Play Guitar.

SKYPE TUITION

There has never been a better opportunity for guitarists and guitar students to experience the tuition of tutors from around the world. If you would like to be taught by me, then please visit my Skype Guitar Lessons page where you can find out all about it.

HOME TUITION

I have had the privilege of teaching probably near on one thousand students from home over the last thirty years. I am now at the age where I am also teaching guitar tutors! I have a fully equipped studio with all the resources at hand that you and I will need. It’s a relaxed way to learn the instrument and I cover everything from beginners to advanced.

All styles are taught including graded units. Theory, composition, technology are also areas covered. So if your thinking about guitar lessons then please send me an email, I’d be delighted to chat things over with you. Lessons are one to one and are paid for in groups of six. Lessons are either thirty or forty five minutes in length depending on what you are learning.

EDINBURGH MUSIC SCHOOL

I tutor guitar at the world renown Edinburgh Music School which teaches the most promising and talented youngsters in Edinburgh and surrounding areas. It’s a wonderful environment and the children are really remarkable in both their ability and dedication to learning their chosen instrument.

I would recommend any parent who thinks their child may have a future in music to check out this unique state funded facility. The building itself is purpose built and all the practice rooms, rehearsal and performance areas are of the highest order. There is a excellent culture within the institution with plenty of opportunities for children to develop and crucially perform. To find out more click the following link – Edinburgh Music School

NAPIER UNIVERSITY EDINBURGH

For the last nine years I have been educating guitarists as part of the Napier University’s BA in Popular Music. In addition to this I devised and deliver the “Music For Screen” module for year three students. This challenging course teaches students how to write to picture as well as giving an historical, technical view of the art of writing underscore and themes to film and media.

The course is an excellent choice for anyone who has their heart set on a career as a musician. The new build facilities at the Merchiston campus are first rate and the campus houses the creative industries as a whole so there are plenty opportunities for meeting people from other disciplines.
